My husband and I applied 7/11 as well but no e651 visa as yet. Exemption was granted 15/11. We did apply for the Visa first and had a reference number to enter on our exemption application so it looks like it doesn't make any difference which order you apply! As a matter of interest when are your parents due to travel? We are not due to travel until January so wondering if this is the reason for the delay.
I applied for my and my husbands e651 on 6/11. Mine was granted before I had even finished entering my husbands details! His has come through today, so we are ready to finish the exemptions and Sydney here we come....Enjoy when you get there

It must be an age thing, but I am finding this all so confusing!
We have flights for early next year, so thought I would start the ball rolling for visas and exemptions.
I applied for 651 for myself and while I was entering my husbands application, my visa was granted!?
Husbands still says 'received'
I thought they wouldn't issue a visa until the exemption process had been followed?
My question now is do I still need to file an exemption, as I already have the visa?

My Dad just got his parent exemption through, took 4 days, quick processing!
Brilliant for him, and you!
Just wondered when he is looking to travel? That is, how far in advance has he applied?

We actually booked flights for February back at the beginning of October. We'd decided that by February, Sydney would be 'open' . Prices have risen so much already since then, although we were using credits from 2 years ago!!!
If we applied for the e-visitor, would 'they' tell us if an exemption was necessary?

This is Glenelg, Adelaide on our last visit to see our daughter in Sydney. Can't wait for the borders to be opened again. Got so many credit notes to use, Etihad, Thai Airways and Luxury Escapes to name a few
At least we are alive and totally vaccinated, ready for action, just need Aussies to get their vaccine program sorted!!!

Like most grandparents in UK, I'm looking to get a special Christmas present for the grandkids, mine are in Sydney.
I thought tickets to an escape room for the family might be good, but need recommendations please?
Kids are boy aged 10 and his sister is 8
The family are in Manly area, but would be more than happy to go into the city.

Congratulations Kath! I am here in Sydney at the moment and have all four of my grandchildren together! You will have such a wonderful time with your new 'little one' I do understand your comments regarding your Mum, I had my Mum with us for the last few years of her life. Whatever you choose to do will be right, and your Mum will support you, in her more err 'comprehending' moments!! Congrats again for your new arrival !! Enjoy xx

Hi
Question for those of you who have made the move to Oz and settled in.
My daughter & SIL applied for and got their Oz Citizenship just waiting for the presentation date.
Have any of you applied for yours and if so are there any benefits to applying at our age?
Phoebe
Hi Phoebe and Happy New Year to you!
Just wondered how your recuperation is going? Hopefully all good!
Sorry, I can't answer your question, but I too would love to know peoples thoughts!
I was lucky enough to visit my family in Sydney again in October(that made 3 trips in 12months!) and then a last minute surprise they came to us over Christmas! I was like the proverbial dog with two tails, so excited to get all four grandchildren together.
When you start adding the costs of flights etc, it makes the visa seem a bit more realistic (no nicer, just more realistic!)
Having a a few health problems at the moment, so I am glad that I have made the trips when I did.
Again, hope your health is getting better and you will soon be going back to see your Harry etc
Cheers Pam

Hi Phoebe
I imagine it can't come quickly enough?
Also I imagine that you have every screenscraper and flight site on speed dial, for when you are ready to say "On my way!!!!!!"
Sure all will go well for you, you've certainly had to wait long enough for it.
Thinking of you on the 26th........

Hi Tab
I'm still here, wishing I was there!!

Hi Cath
How exciting for you!
Isn't it always the way, you wait so long for something to happen, then it all happens at once.....
Hope everything goes smoothly and hope to hear the next 'instalment' soon......from Aus!!!!
Cheers, Pam (presently spending the last two weeks of our three month holiday out here. Have loved every second!)

Hi All!
We have been here for almost six weeks and have found lots of the 'bad' stuff from home is just as 'rife' here.
But most of the everyday stuff ......people are so helpful, food is so good, places to get to for nothing or cheap are amazing (I have to admit here to using a pensioner day pass on the buses.....$2.50 for all day anywhere, buses, trains and ferries!)
BUT I love it all and don't want to leave!!!!
I think hubby could be swayed quite easily, if all the other parts of the jigsaw fell into place.
We still have another six weeks and I am absolutely dreading having to leave this time.
Phoebe, you will know how I feel, my youngest granddaughter is just coming up to six months old!!
Fisher1, I know you too have ties in both countries, as we do.
I suppose I just wanted to bring the thread back to people supporting each other in their journeys......
G'day to anyone that has met me, or cares!!!!
Cheers Pam

Hi, first post in this thread, just looking further down the line for my mum, aged 65. She would be looking for a CPV 143, and would not have an issue with balance of family etc etc.
The issue that concerns me is the Health Requirements. She has a fair amount of medication for Cholesterol, blood pressure etc etc.
I believe the general figure for rejection on medical grounds is projected costs must not exceed $35,000 over a 5 yr period.
Is it worth me compiling a list of the drug/amount and doing a rough calculation before even starting the process ?
How do you go about estimating the projected costs ? The only way I can think is adding it all up and working it out. I don't want her to shell out a visa application fee and medical fees to be told her medication is $10k per year and she fails.
Anyone been in a similar position ?
Thanks in advance.
Hello Mattybe
Sorry, I can't help with an actual answer to your question. I just wanted to 'bump' your post, so that one of the really knowledgeable people on here might see your query and help you out.
Good luck with your journey.
Cheers Pam

Well done Kath! I do envy you!
You do realise that Murphys Law will now come into effect and it will all be processed in double quick time!!
Cheers Pam

Fantastic Phoebe!
For once, I can say I know exactly how you feel! Sarah did this to me with Harry when he too was only about 18 months old!!
I think I can see your beaming smile from here, matched by ours!!
In case I forget on the day, Happy Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!

Good news and bad news from the Neurologist.....good news they have found out what is causing the swallowing problem 4 cervical Osteophytes one of which is 'beaking' causing the problem. He also found the nerve that runs down the right hand side is completely squashed all the way through....first step is a day procedure in few weeks to inject the bone and nerve in the neck to temporarily ease the neck, shoulder and arm pain then a major operation to remove the Osteophytes and repair the nerve...bad news is his waiting list is 12 months!!!!
So now I have to decide if I'm going to continue putting my life on hold for another year. I havnt seen my family for 17 months now don't think I can bear waiting another year so I need to get my head around this and make some decisions.
Phoebe x
As you say, both good and bad news..........
Obviously we know nothing of anyones finances, but given your scenario and knowing how much you might be spending on getting a visa, I would find the money and get the operation done ASAP. Then you are fit and well to go see your grandchildren and family, and enjoy it!
All to easy to say this, I know, but today is the day that counts!
Phoebe, good luck in your decision making!!
Hope that you feel somewhat 'better' now that you know the cause of the problems?
Anyway my best wishes and thoughts are with you and many thanks for letting us know! We feel like family on here..............
Cheers Pam x

Exactly as Kath said, Happy New Year and happy new health to you!

Cheers Pam
Grandma taking grandchildren without their parents
in Visitor Visas
Posted
I am taking two of my grandchildren to Sydney to see their cousins. I am 73 year old and the girls are 16, 13. I know, I must be mad!!
Do I need to take anything with me from their parents to say I have permission?
I realise we will all have to have visitor visas, but just checking whether there is anything else to do.....
Many thanks for any help or advice....
