Hi guys, I really need some help with these forms if possible please. Basically I need to change my name on my visa as we got married after it was granted. I have form 1022 but not sure how to fill first page as it asks for 'your details' and then on the second page it asks for details of other applicants included on the application. My Husband is the main applicant so am I right in thinking his details go on page 1 and then mine on page 2 with the changes in circumstances? Its not very clear at all and I just need to know I'm doing it right. Also I need to do form 929 for my new passport and it asks to send certified copies of Bio-data page from previous and new passport. Can this be certified by a friend or does it have to be a professional? Is it just a case of them writing on the copy that they certify who I am? It doesn't state any info on the form, its very vague. Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks so much as always Woody:unsure:

Evening all, Can you bring quilts & pillows that's are duck feathers to Oz? Im guessing it's a NO but thought I'd ask. Wondering if I should buy new here and put in with shipping. Also what 'tog' is the max needed in Queensland? I've looked on Big W website but can't see a good tog info on the quilts they sell. Cheers Woody

Hello again Another question I'm afraid & this one may seem silly but this is the stuff going round and round in my head at the moment! When shipping to Oz, is there a limit to how much you can take? Im basically thinking ahead...Im thinking of taking a box full of the cleaning products & toiletries we use here, just so when we're in Oz I won't have to buy it all when we're starting out. You might think I'm mad but every little helps right? Lol. Anyone else done or thinking the same? Many thanks Woody

Evening all, Quick question as not sure what to do.... Did anyone keep their UK bank account open when moving to Australia? I have a payment that I need to keep making & the company has said they are not set up to take from a foreign bank account. I need to keep my UK account open but can I tell the bank I've moved to Australia? I can't keep my present address on my account as I won't be here if the bank post me anything. Confused!!! Hi all, We have this visa & are planning to move to Oz this year as our 5 years is up! Do any of you lovely people know how it works if for example, We wanted to leave Oz for a holiday? Would we have to apply for a RRV to get back into Australia? I have read through all of our paperwork & looked at immigov website but I just want to double check I'm reading it right. If this is the case, does this happen until you have citizenship? Thanks in advance. Woody

Hi, This tread is great as we are currently looking into what bank to use and how to go about a money transfer. I had a bank account with Commonwealth Bank many years ago whilst travelling in Oz so I kinda just thought I would open an account with them again. Seems all the major banks are much of a muchness. If you open an Account in the UK, do you use your address here? Or do you have to know your address in Australia? Thanks so much.....

Hi all, Has anyone on here used a Seven Seas Move cube to ship belongings to Australia? Good? Bad? We are thinking of one large cube as not taking any large furniture, just a lot of other stuff. Have spoken with the company on the phone and it seems quite straight forward....I hope ? Thanks in advance for any advice. Dont know what we would do with out this forum! Hi guys, Unfortunately I'm going to have a few questions coming your way in the next few days! Hope you don't mind, we are trying to get as much info as possible before we start packing up. OH is a bricklayer/builder - does anyone have experience of taking hand tools to Oz? We know they have to be cleaned & scrubbed & then cleaned & scrubbed again but not sure about how these can be taken on the plane with us? We are shipping some stuff but he will obviously need his tools for work as soon as we arrive. Any info would really help. Thanks all.

Thanks Beaty for the info....it's fab! Can I ask if you receive family assistance for the children? I think this is only if you're PR? How old are you're 3 kids? Have they settled in ok? Our 8 year old Son doesn't want to come to Oz and Im worried sick about his reaction when we tell him we are definitely making the move. He has known for a few years that it was a possibility & always says he will stay here with his Nan (This isn't an option). How are you finding Melbourne?

Wow! Thank you all for your responses, some very useful info to go by. We will be staying with family for a couple of months I would hope? Or as long as I can handle it lol! My OH family are all very kind people & have said once we are there, they will help us out with getting set up. When we speak with them on Skype now though, they are so laid back with answering our questions. Im the kinda person that needs to know everything before hand. Anyway OH is a builder & family have told him he should get a job no problem as lots of construction going on on GC. Some of the family are trades also so we are really hoping OH can get work through them maybe? We don't want to spend silly money on car & ute but obviously no point in buying recks! How does the registration thing work then? You pay a %, is that a set %? I take it car insurance is quite high from your comments? Does it have to be paid in full? Yes we do have PR, so good to hear about family assistance, I didn't know we were entitled to anything. We are it shipping any furniture over, didn't see the point in using a massive chunk of cash for that, seeing as our furniture needs updating anyway. We haven't bothered buying new as Oz has always been looming. We will ship personal stuff, some kids stuff & OH hand tools, need to look into that. I shop at Aldi in UK so I would defo do the same in Oz. That is amazing to hear about the family who went with £1000! That took some guts for sure! Hi All, We are trying to work out approx how much money it will cost to set up in Oz for first 3 months. I know it's a tricky question but hoping there are a few of you that wouldn't mind sharing your experience of when you first arrived in Oz? We will be staying with family for a while first but will move to a rental, but will need first thing a 2nd hand family car, 2nd hand van for OH work, changing driving license over, getting kids set up for school, uniform etc, mobile phones...I'm sure there are lots of little things you forget about that add up! We we will be heading to Gold Coast. Any info will be gratefully received. Many thanks

Hi, Hmm its a tricky one but hey you only live once! Maybe you should just go for it, I'm sure you'll be fine for a job and like "mwgster" says, you are young enough to come back to UK and start over. Sorry for the confusion on my signature, we do have visas they were granted in May. For some reason everytime I tried to update, it never worked but have just tried again and I think its changed this time.
