  1. TRA has revised its application process, as of 20th February.

They have moved over to a template submission process.

For self employed applications, instead of statutory declarations and client references, a self employment template must be completed.

For direct employment, written references are no longer accepted. Instead, applicants must complete an employment template.

Applications can now be submitted electronically - emailed with attachments.

    Regards,

  2. Ah, that's because you have the joy of getting into this just at the point when the TRA application requirements have changed radically (20th February to be exact).

TRA are no longer accepting employment references and statutory declarations.

It's now self employment templates, and employment templates for direct employment.

Actually, the system has been simplified, and you can now submit applications via email, which is a bonus.

    Regards,

  3. I wouldn't say 'you literally can't fail'.

In the elective part of the assessment, you need to show evidence of experience in Roofing or Gas services.

We've had plumbers call us who do neither, who do only purely domestic plumbing. Without experience of the above they would be struggling.

I would never encourage anyone to go into these tests with a complacent attitude. Also, Vetassess like to mix thing up every so often, so just because an applicant reports it was straightforward for them at a certain point of time, others should not assume it will be a walk in the park.

    Regards,

    Richard

  4. All registered agents will (naturally) believe they offer a service at least equal to, if not better than everyone else, so asking this question in the Ask an Agent section might not give you an unbiased answer ;-)

I would agree that the General section might be a better place for this query :-)

  5. General IELTS is fine for skilled migration requirements, unless Academic is required as part of a skills assessment.

There are IELTS tutors out there who can provide some pointers. Marian Anderson for example: englishforemigration.com she is a former IELTS marker.

You can also access practice materials from the British Council website (as well as book a test). There's also a lot of handy advice on Youtube.

  6. TRA map all qualifications to the AQF framework, as do all skills assessment authorities. Qualifications from other countries are mapped to the AQF framework under the Country Education Profiles (CEP), a resource which is not freely available.

Australian Government agencies have access to it, and Registered Migration Agents have access to it (for a substantial annual fee). That is how they can tell whether your qualification is likely to be accepted as equivalent to its Australian counterpart - this can be found on the CEP.

    Regards,

    Richard
