We arrived in Perth in July 2006 and I couldn't believe how beautiful the winter weather was, my children were swimming in the sea and the sky was blue. Their teacher thought we were mad because we were using the pool and wearing summer clothes. BUT the temperature inside the 2 houses we stayed in was baltic, shorts during the day and shivering in the house at night. After living in Scotland for years i thought I was used to cold weather but central heating is brilliant and makes all the difference. Our house we rented didn't have heating and we had to all sit under a duvet on the settee at night, it was difficult to get up in the morning because it was freezing. So I have sympathy for both sides, the weather is great in Oz and loads of beautiful weather all year round but absolutely bitterly cold in the winter inside some homes.
