Yeh that's what I thought but not what the lawyer said, hence why I am on here, as in the Act it does not state any specific reasons as to why you were outside the country, just as long as you can prove certain things! So I was just hoping to see if anyone had been in a similar situation...

Yeh I thought that would be the case but they don't just seem to add them on at the end, apparently I would need to wait until Jan 18 with no travel before applying again. Not sure how they work it out... tbh. The lawyer told me to read the Act, and as long as I have evidence to show the list that is on there then I shouldn't have any problems, but then I look online and everyone else says something different. My longest time away, that has caused the problem, was 10months in one go which was from 2014 - 2015, I think I need to wait until 2018 as that is when I will make some of that time back as they only count the 4 years immediately before, even though I arrived in Australia over four years ago. I thought because I was 4 months over the 4 years, that the 1.5months that I spent out of the country longer than I should have would've been covered by now but obviously it is not as easy as that...

hey, I am currently on the RSMS 187 visa and have worked for over 1 year now, I am not overly happy in the job. It is not going anywhere and I have the opportunity to study and apply for other jobs within the same region as I have bought a house here with my Australian partner. So I guess having citizenship will just make everything that bit easier...

Hello, Just needing some advice regarding my citizenship application and what evidence to include. Timeline: First arrived in Australia 22/10/12 - spent 355 days outside of Australia between then and the 22/02/16, which was when I got approved for PR, I have then spent a further 55 days in that PR year outside Australia, taking me 1.5months over the requirement. I have spoke to a lawyer and he has said that because the time that has taken me over the eligibility was during my PR year that I would be able to apply for ministerial discretion as I travelled with my Australian partner on every occasion spent overseas, I now have a home here and have paid taxes for the past 4 years. Has anyone had to write a letter asking for the ministerial discretion in the past and what sort of evidence should I be showing? I have been told that if I don't apply with ministerial discretion I have to wait until January 2018, however, I have to go home for 2 weeks in July due to family circumstances, so i feel I will never meet the requirement if I am unable to travel for such a long period of time. Hello everyone! I use to post on here back in February last year but have been absent since! Just wanted to share my timeline and very exciting news: Rsms visa approval today (22/02/16) no further documents required. I did it all myself, nomination first (17/02/2015) approved in May 2015. Visa applied for on 4th August 2015! So 6.5month wait. I had done all medicals and police checks before applying. Low risk, cafe manager, Queensland. I wish you all the luck in the world. It is a horrible wait, sleepless nights etc but I was in tears when it came through. Relief more than anything, as my whole life is here now. I am more than happy to answer any questions regarding this visa for people that are doing it alone!! Thanks

Hi thankyou for your reply. I have read on a number of websites and forums the following: Some bridging A visas are issued with full unlimited work rights. For example a partner visa application made in Australia has this as does a Skilled Migration application. Would a RSMS 187 fall into this do you think? I will contact immigration for verification but great news if this is the case.

Hello everyone, I have received news today that my nomination has been approved...so so relieved. Details: Nomination lodged 6th Feb. Cafe Manager Queensland Low Risk Country Will now put visa in separately. Was too much of a risk as we didn't use an agent. Is the hard part over? Questions about next stage: Once I put my application through, I will be placed on a bridging visa once my tourist visa runs out. I have read somewhere that when you are on a bridging visa the same rules apply to the visa that was held previously (my case: tourist visa). However, apparently if you are applying for a RSMS 187 visa you have unrestricted work rights on this bridging visa A. I just wanted to check if this was true? Thanks and good luck everyone...

Hi All, Quick question, I have applied for nomination on the 18th Feb, I have not submitted visa application as I want to wait and see if it has been approved. I will be submitting this in Australia as I am hoping to be placed on a bridging visa. Is it possible to apply for a bridging visa that would allow me to work for the company that is sponsoring me. They need me to work asap, and I have been made aware, that by applying for the nomination and visa separately, it could take another 3-6months to be approved!! Thanks

Hey! I am not in Perth but I am from the UK applying for Regional QLD. I applied for nomination only in Feb, don't want to submit visa until approved but I have heard it might take the same length of time as the nomination because I have done it separately. Which is very frustrating. I just want to start work already!!

Hi Memory, I am the same as you, nomination applied the 17th Feb, not heard anything yet. Also I am waiting until this is approved before submitting my application. May I ask what state and position you are applying for? I am Queensland, and as cafe manager. I have heard that it can take another 3-6months once nomination is approved, if done separately. I hope this isn't true though. Any idea on this form people would be helpful.
