Guest51810
As most people know I stupidly applied for my visa too early as a motivator but ended up losing my job so didn't have enough money to go on the month it expires in. Is it just a case of letting it expire and then I'll be okay to get a new one with no problems? Or do you think it will take longer. Before I did apply I phoned the london office and they said it happens a lot so im assuming it's okay but just wanted to check. Won't be applying till october if it doesn't take long the second time

Guest51810
Haha that would just be my luck wouldn't it. I really don't think I would be declined because he basically said that on the phone but I just don't know if it would be as quick as 2 hours. I could actually kick myself for applying for it so early. Moral of the story - listen to your parents

Moral of the story - listen to your parents I disagree... never ever, listen to your parents when it comes to things like this :-) If i listened to one of my parents i'd never move to Australia as it doesn't suit them. Ok, so you booked too early - you lost a bit of money, but that's life, that's a good learning experience for you. Its all part of the greater good :-) How much is a visa these days? I remember paying STA about £80 to process mine for me then finding out I could have done it myself, much easier, much quicker and much cheaper on the tinternet. (this was way back in 2003 mind so I wouldnt be suprised if they had quadrupled in price by now)
Guest51810
Yep it was a life lesson lol but never mind! It just didn't work out the way I planned but least I'll get there now. It's around £250 for a visa so it was a expensive lesson haha
benthomas010
Wow. I say wow. I paid more than that in bank fees alone when I got my permanent visa lol.
Guest51810
Seriously I'm just a total cheapo with some things lol. It's not really expensive but let's just say I'm not too pleased about it either. Wish they would just let me change the date on it instead
benthomas010
It's a lot of money. That's more than a weeks wages for some people, so I can see why your frustrated. I would be. I agree... They should let you extend the date, but visas after all are just a massive money maker so they aren't going to turn down money for old rope :-)
Guest51810
Never mind!! Live and learn. They'll get their money again lol. New Zealand is much cheaper for their visa, like half the price I think
benthomas010
If you enjoy your time in Aus you should have a crack at the nZ work visa. I loved my time there. Still regret to this day turning down the chance to stay for good because I thought i missed England.
Guest51810
I'm really hoping I can afford to do at least 6 months in New Zealand, desperate to visit there too
