Copping out? Confused and slightly freaking out!

Our "For Sale" sign went up today and it's kinda freaked us out. What if it sells and we still don't have a job to go to? Hubby has applied for loads of jobs over the last few months and hasn't heard back from any of them :-(

We really don't want to give up a good job and pension on the off chance he'll get something once we get out there. We thought we'd get more response once the visa came though but now we're told "you have to be in the country really to be taken seriously"

So, as we need to validate before Dec 6th, we're thinking of a validation trip for a month (which we'd hoped to avoid for £££ and confusing the children reasons). The theory being that we've then bought 4 years more of option time. I see this as a bit of a cop out. We thought that selling the house would free us up to make the move when he gets a job but that is seeming further and further away.

Everything is hinged on finding a job - is the best solution to job hunt whilst on validation trip? Does anyone get offered jobs whilst still in the UK or am I just dreaming away??? Is there any point even validating??? FWIW this is not like us; normally quite positive people.

(Hubby is in automotive product development specialising in off road capability but has also worked in prototype manufacture with same employer)

Give it to me straight people - we need some independent sensible advice. Thanks x

From what we have been told, unless your in one of the sponsorship job categories there is very little chance of getting a job before we land. It does happen but very rare.

All the agents have told us to get there and then you will be taken seriously.

Another point, I started a thread asking about arriving in Dec, a big No No. Strangly our date is also 6 Dec but Oz basically shuts down for Dec and Jan due to Summer, Xmas and School holidays. So unless you want to spent lots of $$$$ with out even a chance of getting work go earlier or activate now and go in Feb is what we have been told. Recruitment agents have also confirmed this and apparently the housing situation is also bad then.

Good luck
