Hi,

From what I understand, if one lodged Partner Visa (820) application in Australia then the applicant must be in Australia when the visa is granted. If applicant is a 457 visa holder and the visa ceased after 820 lodgment, is the applicant eligible for a applying a bridging visa?

thanks

When you apply for the 820, you'll be issued a bridging visa A which lays dormant in the background and will kick in when the 457 expires, with the same work rights as the 457 so you can carry on working for the same company. If you leave and re-enter australia in between applying for the 820 and the 457 expiring, you'll need to pop into your local DIAC office to get the bridging visa re-instated, as it lapses whenever you leave the country.
