Guest TRSly
Hi all, We've been in Canberra (Kaleen) for 3 months now and are looking to meet up with other new arrivals, hopefully with children a similar age to ours (boy 7, girl 6). Anyone fancy getting together sometime for a get-together at a park / picnic / BBQ or just wants to say hello then get in touch. We are loving Canberra and are looking to widen our social circle. Thanks, Kirsty, Toby, Jacob & Isobel.

Loving it but finding it soooo expensive - it's great the weather's been a little better too! Helen

(apart from expensive!!!) Any cheap hotels/apartments for when we first arrive? Schools? Look forward to your replies Best Wishes

Evenflo
Hi Faye, Im currently a swim instructor in Canberra! and there are so many swim schools you are spoilt for choice!!! Though I would just let you know about the schools just to give you a head start. I work at Aquatots on the north side www.aquatots.com.au they specialise in baby swimming and school age kids. So if you are keen etc I can chat to the boss for you.....other swim schools which I know of are: AIS: opportunities for management and instructors and squads CISAC (Belconnen): as above with squads Carols swim school: Private school Aquaharmony (Curtin): Similar to Aquatots. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions Regards Eve
sambafaye
Hi there, It's so good to hear from you . . . . Thank you! I have been spending the afternoon emailing swim schools and I also emailed the ones you mentioned. It is like a mind field when you are not physically over there yet! My qualifications are obviously from the UK and I am a fully qualified ASA teacher with life time knowledge and experience of swimming. I thrive on the rewards of teaching and can't wait to get stuck in. Where do you guys live? Do you have small kids? How long have you been over there? What part of the UK were you from I am so excited about the whole process and just want to be there.... Looking forward to hearing from you, and thank you Faye Edited April 29, 2012 by sambafaye
sambafaye
Sorry Evenflo just noticed your previous posts about how long you have been there etc so sorry for the extra questions!!!!lol Would be great for our 5 year olds to catch up. Is he or she at school yet? My little girl was 5 last week and has been at primary school since sept 2011 and my little boy turned 4 end of feb and is due to start primary school in the uk if we were staying September 2012. Very confusing. I have been looking into it and I keep trying to understand if it is right that the youngest they can start school is 4 years and 6 months which means he will be ok because he will be 4 years and 7 months!!!! he has been at pre school since his 2 nd birthday so really ready for primary school!!, Hope you are all well Faye

Great atmosphere and the girls have come on leaps and bounds. It's great to read about new Canberran's arriving. We've been here 2 years now and loving every minute Sam

Guest Bora
Curiosity has the better of me here.....I see this thread started a couple of years back, and see someone has moved back to Cardiff. Has anyone on this thread still in Canberra or moved on? If so, why did you leave?
