frostie
Long story cut short....My 3 yr old has a blocked tear duct (finally got a referal to a consultant) But the 1st appointment is 3 weeks before we fly out on our 457 visa.....So do i take her to see the uk consultant or wait???? My worry is if i take her to the uk one and they say yes she needs an operation 1....There is no way it would be done before flying and 2 If she needs something done and we dont have time in th uk they wont touch her in oz as it will be classed as a pre existing condition??? I am so confused on what we are covered for with medicare. If its not covered on a 457 visa... we can wait till we have pr as our agents are already getting all the required bits for our sponsered pr visa which can be applied for once we arrive... :arghh: I really dont know what to do for the best!! So if anyone can help ?????????? Thanks Mandy
Guest Lewis clan
Hi Mandy, not usre about your medicare eligibility with the visa, but I can tell you that we came out here wih my daughter waiting for an adenoids op in the Uk, and was still waiting after 18 months. We saw a GP here, she was seen by a specialist (we paid for the consult) and operated on within 2 months on medicare with no issues. We advised the GP that she had been waiting in the Uk and it was not an issue.
frostie
Thanks for that. Has put my mind at rest. I was worried they could say that as it was there when living in the uk they wouldnt do anything out there. Thanks again Mandy

Guest The Pom Queen
Frostie that's only for private health insurance where there is a 12 month waiting list for pre existing conditions. Once you arrive here go and see the Dr and get a referral you can either wait to be seen public or pay to see one privately, may cost around $120 but you would get $80 back from Medicare. Guest Lewis clan
Yes = well worth the money. They call 2 months a waiting list here - I call it preparation time!! My daughter waited 2 yrs for her tonsilectomy in UK and 6 wks for adenoids here! My othet daughter had 2 month wait for tonsilectomy here on public system.
