Guest Gollywobbler
Hi again Yvonne Your friend has told you an old wives tale, I'm afraid. However, it is possible to upgrade to PR via an ENS or RSMS visa. (Employer Nomination Scheme and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme respectively) after an initial waiting period in some, but not all, cases. The wait need not be for more than two years and if the person has proved his/her skills to the satisfaction of the Australian Government via VETASSESS, TRA, ACS or whatever, then the process of applying for an ENS or RSMS visa need not be delayed. Hi Yvonne Getting a specialist Migration Agent involved would be a good idea because of your daughter's disability. The problem is that with the 457 visa, a waiver of the health requirement is possible for everyone except the main visa applicant. With the PR visas, I think everyone in the family has to meet the health criteria. Peter Bollard is said to be a guru on the Health stuff.
