Hey, guys,

My dad got a job as a professor at an AU university. He and I hold 457 visa.

He has a Ph.D degree from the U.S. He just started working in AU this feburary

I want to know what's the fastest way for us to get PR. What are our options?

He needs to get the university to sponsor him for an 856 ENS visa. He will need skills assessment first and they must be prepared to provide employment for 3 years. If he is over 45, an application will also need to be made for an age exemption.

Thank you very much for your fantastic response.

How long does this process typically take?

The time takes seems to vary quite a bit. Go through the following VERY long thread that discusses the timeline for that visa. I suggest you start from posts made in the last few months as the processing time seems to have blown out in recent times to 6+ months.
