Guest charlyandnick
Hi Everyone, A bit of a specialist subject I know, but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me out a little bit. I'm currently serving in the Coastguard here in the UK, and am trying to find out a bit about how it works in Australia. My job involves the coordination of Search and Rescue (just like on TV's Seaside Rescue!) from a central Maritime Rescue Coordination Center using lots of very dull technology. Although Oz doesn't have a Coastguard service in the same way as the UK I gather that the Water Police would be the people that you called if you needed help. I'm just trying to find out a little bit more about how they operate and recruit, we are thinking of Victoria so have trawled the police website. However there doesn't seem to be much info available, for once the internet has let me down! We will be emigrating on Charly's points as she is a nurse, so it's not really a factor in that respect. Just trying to find out a little more. Many thanks to anyone who may be able to help. Nick
