Hiya folks,

Well, we’re a family of 2 boys, me an IT engineer and my wife has been doing the bulk of work being at home with the kids (5 and 2 ) she's a finance grad.

We hardly find time to go out pubbing and rarely go out dining either may be cos we live in Dubai. All in all it's laid back life with good family times.

Our decision to move to mel is:

  1. Excellent education to kids
  2. Good living standards within what i have quoted above ( these are the ones that a re genarlised i guess )

Depending on the job i might be working late as well. Where would i find best schools and other amenities being a safe neighborhood.

Thanks for your time...

If you were to work in or around the CBD then I would look at the following suburbs.

Kew

Hawthorn East

Camberwell

Malvern

Balwyn

Glen Iris

Box Hill

Burwood

Surrey Hills

Near to good schools private and public.

Toorak and Brighton are very good too the most pricey suburbs in Melbourne.

Other side could look at Williamstown very nice there.

Hi, it all depends on what your budget is. If you are looking for a laid back lifestyle I would be thinking Bayside suburbs, Beaumaris, Sandringham, Mentone, Brighton, or South East Suburbs like Berwick, Lynbrook, Lyndhurst, parts of Narre Warren or even Mornington, Mt Eliza etc. Most of these suburbs are on the beach with easy access to public transport, for the suburbs not on the beach the furthest away is Berwick and Narre Warren which are around 20/25 minutes away

Good luck with your search. There are a couple of suburb guides that can be found here along with schools and property Moving to Melbourne: Where to Live Suburb Guide for Melbourne

Schooling, we have the public System being the government schools. They are free but all books, pencils, excursions and the like are paid for by the parents. Just like the UK their are perceived good ones and not so good ones. Then there is the private system which is large, the Catholic and other Religious Schools some of which are cheaper than the other private schools.

This web site has all the non government schools Melbourne Schools

This is the govt web site which gives an overview of all education in Victoria

Trust you:elvis: Ang tell her she can work for hubby when she is older. There are no schools that specialise in it but if she is interested in Wildlife I can help get her in to this. Just let me know tomorrow night.

look for the pricey suburbs, we live in torquay which is very laidback (beaches) pricey but still affordable and has great primary schools (youhave to visit them). geelong has a great selection of high schools.

Cheers
