Hi there,

We have just got a mortgage in Perth although still living in UK.

We dealt with a mortgage advisor called ALison at MLG money in Perth.

Just wanted to recommend her if anyone out there is looking to buy in Australia, she was an absolute pleasure to work with and made the process very easy.

If anyone wants to contact her her email is alison@mlgmoney.com.au

Hi to all poms in transit (or limbo, as it sometimes feels, when at the in between stage)

My name is Catherine, I am a fully qualified and licensed Fiance Broker and a member of the MFAA (mortgage and finance institute of Australia). I migrated to WA 2 and a half years ago, with husband and 3 kids (now aged 14,12 and 4). We don't have any family here and knew noone before we came. So have experienced it all. I can help with any mortgage, borrowing or lending you might need and it is a fee free service and no obligation at all.

I particularly specialise in migrants (poms, as we are better known) because I know all the hurdles and issues first hand having purchased land whilst in the UK, building and refinancing over here. And obviously its better the devil you know, or at least the devil that knows the same as you!!!. But hey, even if I can help with any questions or anxieties you might have in preparation for the big departure and arrival, just let me know.

We live in Mandurah and as I said have 3 kids, so have been through what you are all going through right now and even if it isn't lending advice or guidance give me shout if I can help you out in anyway. My email is rightmovemortgages@bigpond.com and you are welcome to drop me a line no matter what the enquiry.

bye for now,

Catherine

Hi Catherine,

I wasnt expecting this thread to become a place for a sales pitch but never mind.

I just believe that when you get good service in todays world you should let other people know, and thats what we got from Alison. Just wanted people to know that.

Hi Rachel

Sorry, I never meant for it to appear like that, I just know how doubtful, anxious or unsure we get at certain stages of the whole process and like you thought that it might be a little reassuring to know that someone is available to help you out whilst you are still in the UK, whether it be for finance related issue or not.

I just remember how difficult it was for us at the time, we didn't know who to appoint or even who to ask for a recommendation and thought that it might be useful for those who are looking to purchase whilst awaiting the big day. I also would be delighted to help out a fellow pom in the situation we were in 2 and a half years ago, excited, scared and anxious, all at the same time. And absolutely none to ask or air my concerns to on the other side, except of course the migration agents, who often don't have any children and have never experienced the finality of closing one very big chapter of your life and starting all over again on the other side of the world.

Once again, I apologise if I have offended you in anyway.

Well while everyones doing free advertising for mortgage advisers, I should like to highly recommend mine too!! Mortgage Choice, Joondalup office, Phil Farrugia (0893009322)

Quite possibly the nicest most helpful man I've ever had the pleasure to meet. He sorted us out with our home loan and we were in our new house in 6 weeks! He even offered to help us move in! and lend us his trailor!!!! Also the day after we moved in he came to see us and gave us a bottle of wine! now thats what I call service.
