Emma Chapman
Hello, I am in the process of applying for my Partner 801 visa - all the docs have now been uploaded and I guess I just wait to hear back. I have just found out that I am pregnant - do I need to inform immigration of this for my visa? Or do I wait until the baby is born? I've found info online about a dependent child visa, but then I also found the below stating that if one parent was a citizen the child would be automatically be a citizen (my husband is an Australian citizen). So would I need to include the baby in my application or anything? Thanks so much for any help, I am just a little confused. "Your baby's status Your baby may be an Australian citizen. A baby born in Australia is automatically an Australian citizen if at least one parent was an Australian citizen or permanent resident at the time of birth. Your baby might also be a citizen of your home country (dual citizenship)."
paulhand
Congratulations! If the baby's father is an Australian citizen and the baby is born in Australia, s/he is automatically an Australian citizen by birth. They do not need a visa. You can add the information to your 801 application as "relationship evidence" if you wish and then inform the Dept when the baby is born.
