The Steven Akehurst-designed house on 9.7ha at 183 Musk Creek Rd property is on two titles and has hit the market for the first time since it was built three decades ago.

If it achieves its mammoth $17.5 million price hopes, it would be Flinders’ top home sale.

The record of $17 million is held by 2270 Mornington-Flinders Rd, a seven-bedroom home on 29.7ha called Miramar, which sold in April 2017.

That weekender was sold by Daniel and Danielle Besen, of the Sussan Group fashion chain empire, who also sold Victoria’s former most expensive house in Toorak, and was bought by Good Guys boss Andrew Muir in a deal brokered by Peninsula Sotheby’s Rob Curtain.

The Musk Creek Rd property features a villa-style house designed by Melbourne-based Akehurst, who is well-known for his luxury home creations, including several located on the Mornington Peninsula.

“The house is among the earliest homes designed by Akehurst and is beautifully maintained with fabulous gardens,” Kay & Burton Flinders partner Tom Barr-Smith said.

“It has a very private and quiet setting and is located on probably the best street in Flinders.”

Apart from the main five-bedroom home, there is also a retreat with three bedrooms, sheds, workshops, paddocks, two dams and a mod grass tennis court.

The serene property stars with a gorgeous rose garden and also formal hedged gardens.

The bonus for the buyer is the potential to build another home on its own title on the property, Mr Barr-Smith said.

“Such large properties on the peninsula on two titles are sought after and there will be either international buyers or wealthy locals interested,” he noted.
