Hi all,

I’m currently on a 457 which was granted on July 26th 2016. My employer is looking to submit for a 186. My question is and forgive me if it’s already been posted somewhere but I cannot seem to find an answer, is...

like before on other visas, you could normally submit an application a month before the anniversary of the approved visa, in this case 2 years. Does anyone know if we can submit on June 26th?

Apologies again if this has been posted already. Using mobile and can’t seem to find anything.

Thanks in advanced

Hi @Lopezjose7

Based on my experiences, unfortunately, you can not submit the application On June 2018 if you want to apply for the 186 Visa TRT...

It must be at least 24... This is what my MA suggested to me 10 months ago...

BTW, you know that nowadays  after submitting the Visa you'll need to wait at least 11-12 months..(the waiting time maybe can be different based on your  skills) so I think we'll be better for you wait another months and lodge the Visa after 2 years...

I'll suggest you to speak with your MA, if you already have one!!

Good luck ?

Thank you @Amy86 appreciate the response.

My employer is adamant to use their existing immigration lawyers who charge double the normal rates and have sometimes been a complete joke with their information... never the less many people at my work have had PR via these guys.

I have one more question if you don’t mind...

Once it’s granted (if) after the period of let’s say 12 months, would that be if for PR? Or is there another application after this?

Thanks heaps once again :)

@Lopezjose7 please note that there are 2 applications that needs to be done, the nomination application from your employer, and the 186 visa from your side. You can either wait for the nomination to be approved before you lodge your 186 visa, or you do it in parallel with the nomination.
