461 NZ Partner evidence advice needed

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

im needing some advice on the evidence needed to prove a defacto relationship for the 461 visa.

My nz gf and I have been together for 18months but have very little in the way of formal evidence. We met in Australia while I was on a working holiday visa, and she has subsequently done the working holiday here in the U.K. Due to the backpacker nature of the relationship we don't have joint rental agreements or utility bills etc. We have pictures throughout the relationship, plane tickets purchased together, and the odd letter from the bank to the same address.

Would this be suitable to submit with the application? And can anyone recommend other forms of evidence I can try and organise?

Thanks for the advice!

How about statutory declarations from friends, confirming your relationship is genuine? Maybe 3-4 of those could work for you. Also do you have any invites for social events addressed to both of you? Or banking evidence where one of you has transferred money to the other?

Hi Beffers,

thanks for that. All of those things we can easily get together. Would statutory declarations from family work as well?

Also, any advice on wheth or not to use migration agent or go it alone? I know it doesn't guarantee the visa or anything, but does it give the application more credibility?

Cheers

I think agents give great advice and if your application is complicated, then they are a godsend. I know a few people whose agents have got them thru some turmoil etc and have helped them a great deal. Everyone's application is unique.

For us, I spoke directly to Australia House in London when we registered our daughter's citizenship by descent and they told us because our application was so straightforward thag we should be fine doing it ourselves.  They advised we scanned groups of evidence together into single PDF files. So for financial evidence, we had over 80 pages of annotated evidence, with an index and cover sheet at front, with our names, TRN ref etc and uploaded that in a single document. Same for other types of evidence. We did 3 Stat Decs, but none from family as Australia House advised that friends were better.  My CO said my file was very well put together and it wasn't hard-work for the agent to find everything they needed.   We uploaded one family photograph per year from 2011 when our daughter was born. And before that, about half dozen photographs showing us as a couple on various holidays (which were also evidenced by travel receipts etc). I even did a screen shot showing all our booking.com bookings for past 9 years lol.

Good luck!!!
