189 or 489 Visa, Which should I do?

Hi All,

 

I have submitted a 189 EOI back on 20/12/16, with 60 pts, for Computer Network Engineer.

 

Now I have family in Perth and was wondering if I could also submit a 489 visa, which would then give me 70pts. My main question is this.

 

should i wait until july as the current occupation is on pro rata and 65 pts are needed or should i submit a 489 and get the 70 pts, but then how long could I have to wait for an invite?

 

The reason I ask is I am currently employed by a family business and would be paid a wage from the UK if I went on the 189, but if I chose the 489 option, and was paid from the UK would i satisfy the 12 month working criteria?

 

Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated.
