look under ANZSCO unit group 3332 for plasterers and unit group 34111 for electrician. The occupation is also available on the SOL.

 

You may be eligible for visas 189/190 and 489.

 

For these subclass of visas, you can only apply after you submitted an expression of interest, got an invite to apply. You need to nominate an occupation from either the Skilled occupation list or Consolidated Skilled Occupation List. As an electrician and plasterer, you can nominate either one of the occupations. Have your skill assessed by Trades Recognition Australia. You would also need to pass the point test. Currently the passing mark is 60 points. Whilst it is not necessary for you to do the English language Test if you are a English native speaker, You might want to consider doing one to boost your score on the point test.

correction from my previous post. I was meant to say if you are a UK passport holder, you need not have to do an English language test. U might want to do it just to boost your score on the point test.

First, start of by counting your points to make sure that you will be able to score at least 60. You may score enough (at least 60 points) without having to take an English test, but these days that is unlikely. In any case, the more points you are able to claim, the more likely you will be able to apply for a visa.

 

You also need to decide on just one skilled occupation. The skills assessments for electricians and plasterers are really different in terms of costs as well as timescales. Your decision should be based on the qualifications you have and the evidence of proof of your work that you can provide.

 

The best visa to apply for is a Skilled Independent Visa - this gives you rights to permanent residency and it does not have any restrictions as to where in Australia you have to live and what kind of a job you want to do.
