Contributory Parent Visa 143

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have my daughter in Australia and one son living in England so all ok for the Visa.

Regards

Your options are 173 temporary or 143 for your first application

If you apply for the 173 visa you have 2 years to apply from the date of Grant (Not the date of Arrival) for the 143

it is easier to raise the lower fee for the first round then you have 2 years to put together the second instalment for the 143

If you have the full funds the 143 is the better way

After you apply you will have approximately 18 months to 2 years to put together the final instalment for either the 173 or 143 application

Cheers

Hi Heather

just to let you know, if you haven't noticed it, there is a 'sticky' thread on parents visas, which you can find in migration issues in the forum. You might find it helpful to browse there too, as a lot of this stuff has been discussed there many times. I used it a lot when applying for my parent visa and had loads of help from fellow applicants. if you have a question someone nearly always replies within hours. Good luck with it all. If you do decide to go it alone and not use an agent it can be quite stressful, but you just need to keep your cool and be patient.

Apologies for not looking further.

[h=5]143.212[/h](1) The applicant is:

(a) sponsored in accordance with subclause (2) or (3); or

(b) taken, under subclause (4), to be sponsored in accordance with this clause.

(2) If the child has turned 18, the applicant is sponsored by:

(a) the child; or

(b) the child's cohabiting spouse or de facto partner, if that spouse or de facto partner:

(i) has turned 18; and

(ii) is:

(A) a settled Australian citizen; or

(B) a settled Australian permanent resident; or

© a settled eligible New Zealand citizen.

This is the regulation. Yes the spouse - son in law can sponsor you
