Paige03
Hi. I'm hoping someone can help. If my 13 year old daughter is currently on the waiting list for a minor operation to correct a heart arrhythmia, would she fail the medical required for migration to Australia? Or would she pass as long as she had the operation before we went? Would the medical be passed if we agreed to that? Thanks :frown:
George Lombard
Hi Paige, Impossible to say on this information, but if the prognosis post-operatively is positive then you might be ok. It's a question of what costs might arise in the future. Registered Migration Agents have access to the Department's internal guides to medical costs, sometimes those can help but they don't cover every possible condition. Cheers, George Lombard

Cheers, George Lombard Thanks George. We didn't want to go for the medical to find she fails it as she is actively awaiting treatment. The prognosis is good, there's an above 90% success rate for cardiac catheter ablation, which if it works means she's cured, so no future costs. She's not on any medication and is unlikely she will need to be. Hopefully we'll be okay!
