Can this be applied for and processed here in Australia through the Embassy or does it need to be via the UK ? The UK GOV website says a 6 week turnaround through UK and was hoping to get it sooner. ABL275 Posted March 11, 2016 Share Posted March 11, 2016 I recently had to get a new British passport and it had to be done through the UK, and yes, it was a real pain sending things back by registered mail and waiting for a reply. Unfortunately the British High Commission (Commonwealth countries don't have embassies with each other) is not able to issue new passports.
