missmoffitt
Hi everyone We are setting the ball rolling but have been told we MUST get the correct skill sorted for our application. Husband is a carpenter and bench joiner. He has sufficient experience etc but when looking at the skills his work he does he would class as cabinet making as carpenters are assessed for their 'roofing' skills. Briefly he has: kitchen fitting, floor laying, make and build exhibition stands, make windows/doors and door frames, bespoke furniture, retail joinery, door hanging, skirting etc, . This to us, is more cabinet making, yet we have been advised to apply for carpentry. Has anyone been in this position and can help us in anyway? Thanks
Ferrets
Suggest you look at the roles for each and go for the closest fit. http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/7437179C7B7C1EEECA2575DF002DA5D8?opendocument Good luck Ferrets
Stacy Williamson
Hi, my husband is a carpenter - though he has had experience in England with roofing and all sorts - he's man of many talents hehe! As the previous post said, look at the job description for each and base it on that. When husband had his skills assessed he spent two minutes talking carpentry and the other 20 minutes talking about cricket! Just lol at the specs and if he feels he can confidentially do the specified jobs and has experience of them then that's the one to go for. Good luck
Stacy Williamson
Look at the specs, not lol at them! Typo!!!
