M005
I'm a CIMA qualified accountant & wondering if this is widely recognised in Melbourne or whether I would find it easier to get interviews & jobs with an Australian qualification? Has anyone got any experience of the accountancy job market? Job adverts understandably list Aus qualifications only.
grahamffc
You're in luck, CIMA has a mutual recognition agreement with CPA (the largest australian body). All you need to do is pays couple of hundred quid and you're automatical a CPA member too which will be a massive advantage while job hunting. M005
Thanks, I was just about to send off the MRA forms and skills assessment forms to CPA, but wandered if I could save myself a bit of cash. Might get it all, then drop the CPA membership in a year of two once I have a stable role.
grahamffc
Why would you bother, for the sake of saving a few hundred quid it's a no brainer. You'll probably find you can go for jobs paying $15,000 more with CPA membership than with just CIMA. And once you have a job most employers will pay your annual subscriptions. M005
Thank you; just the confirmation I needed; all forms going in the post today. Just need confirmation whether they need employment references for skills assessment or not as it seems optional on form, or whether to just submit them with main 189 visa application.
