We will hopefully be travelling to Brisbane later this year with our 4 children. We would like to stay somewhere temp for 4-6 weeks before finding a rental in our preferred area. What are our options re short term rentals? What have others done please?

Thanks

Hi there,

We (myself, hubby and 3 year old daughter) are off to Brisbane in May, we have booked 4 weeks in Brisbane Holiday Village. We had considered rental apartment/house but figured we wanted to start our adventure somewhere that felt like a holiday and our wee one can get out and enjoy it and we can meet new people. Four weeks should give us a good time to look for rentals and jobs yikes, thats when the fun really starts :jiggy:

We (me, husband, son17 and daughter 3 stayed in Brisbane Holiday Village when we first arrived in Nov 2014,it was expensive compared to the cost of renting a house but it gave us some time to look round the areas for a longer term rental. We didn't want to commit to a 6m rental before we came as we didn't know where we would be working nor where my son would go to school\college. It was great from the perspective of it being a holiday camp with pool, cafe, internet, laundry etc etc and my daughter LOVED the pool each day. It is also very good for getting into Brisbane, Garden City (big shopping mall which is walking distance if not too hot) and equal distance to Gold coast and Sunshine Coast. We also expected that thered be quite a few families there like us who we could chat to and swap info with, there werent when we stayed there, there seemed to be a number of sporting groups staying for a few nights, or Aussies who needed temp accomodation for whatever reason, but it suited us fine overall. The internet was awful there! We finished up renting a house just down the road from it at Eight Mile Plains, so feel free to ask us qus or look us up when you arrive, were very happy to help as weve learned lots since we got here, most of it probably the hard way, so know what its like!!! Australia is a beautiful place
