rossco2810
We move to Adelaide next month & my wife is looking to get working in the Childcare sector asap (skills currently being assessed). Does anyone know if she needs to apply for an Australian police check as soon as she arrives? Can it be done beforehand?
AJ
she will need a Working with Children Check and at least a Cert III in Earlychildhood Care and Education. If she has UK qualifications they may be transferrable, would need to check with ACECQA.
oddball
You can apply for an AFP check before you go. It's done online. She'll likely need a Working With Children check as well, which requires a photo to be taken and is done at most post offices in Australia. rossco2810
Ah yes sorry its the Working with Children check she needs - do you know if this can be done before arrival? I doubt it can as it wont flag up very much? Says it takes around 4 weeks, sometimes longer which is a bit of a pain. Her Level 3 certificate is away getting assessed by ACECQA just now - they indicated that with her 10 years experience she could possibly be assessed as an early years teacher but we played it safe for just now and went with the level she is at just now.
