GRAViL
We are in the process of arranging to transfer our pensions from the UK to AUS to beat the April 15 deadline. The dilemma that I have is that there is such a wide range pricing for doing this, Westpac can do the transfer for almost $30000, netWealth appears to only charge $5000 and AWP appears to do the same thing for little more than a modest admin fee??? I'm really at a loss as to how to progress.... any advice gratefully received! :arghh:
Andrew from Vista Financial
Hi GRAViL Based on Westpac's fees I would say that your Pensions are worth around (500k GBP) $900,000?? PM if you do not wish to disclose on open forum. KR Andy
GRAViL
Hi it's a little under that $770,
Andrew from Vista Financial
Thanks. Is this split across two people or just one, if two are any combined values for that person over $540,000?
GRAViL
it's two people... one NHS pension and one Motorola Pension, both are obviously final salary

Andrew from Vista Financial
Thanks again. Is there any one pension over $540,000?

Andrew from Vista Financial
Then $30,000 is an absolute disgrace, did the chap who quoted this manage to keep a straight face and did you manage not to fall off your chair?? I would be happy to discuss further and take this off line with you if you wish. BTW there is not a ban on schemes other than un-funded government schemes therefore NHS affected not Motorola and possibly being an overseas resident the ban may not even affect you (more on this around 3 December). Also are you aware you do not have to transfer and if you do not your pensions will not be affected in anyway? KR Andy
GRAViL
My real concern is why there is such big differences in cost.... I keep thinking AWP is hiding some charge from me that will end up costing me as much as westpac.... if thats the case I would prefer to deal with someone who was up front and honest.... but that said if Westpac is charging over the odds ... they don't deserve my business.... ???
