190 skilled nominated visa

Hi!

I m new to the forum and I have some questions about the 190 visa. I am a physicist but this occupation is not included in SOL. However, I have the 60 points that are required. Is it obligatory to nominate an occupation from the list?

Yes you will only be able to apply for a visa if your occupation is on the list. Have you checked if any of the States have your occupation on their list, as 190 visa is a State Sponsorship visa.

 

By any chance are you a Physicist (Medical Physicist only)? as this is on the SOL list http://www.immi.gov.au/Work/Pages/skilled-occupations-lists/sol.aspx

For a 190 visa, the occupation must be on the CSOL (which has more occupations than the SOL) and it must also be on the list of occupations of one of Australia's states or territories AND that state/territory must be willing to offer sponsorship to you.

 

AFAIK, only two states currently have your occupation on their lists. Victoria is currently sponsoring Physicists with 5 years experience. Queensland is also sponsoring the occupation but requires only Medical Physicists. You should check all states in case I've missed some.

My occupation is on the CSOL but I read that if an occupation is not on SOL but only in CSOL , you need to be sponsored

Correct, you will need to be sponsored by the state. This is not a difficult task. I done the whole process myslef rather than going through an agent.

Have you checked how many points you have? You will get additional 5 points for SS

I already gather 60 points without the SS. The problem is that States ask for working experience as well, and I don t have any to demonstrate.
