amirpalang
Hi all, Applying for WHV 462 visa, Is it a must to have private health insurance? So far I found out that they recommend it but it's not a must. this is what I found on their website: "You are responsible for all your health costs while you are in Australia. You will not be covered by Australia's national health scheme (Medicare) unless your country has a reciprocal health care agreement with Australia. We recommend that you take out health insurance each time you travel to Australia." and in 1208 form under Eligibility Requirement they mention: "have health insurance (recommended) covering your stay in Australia. This can be obtained in your home country or in Australia." I am wondering if not having private health insurance can impact on granting visa? Ozmaniac
It's only recommended and if you don't have it, there will be no impact on your chances of getting a visa. That said, you would be stupid not to have insurance but that's your choice. At the very least, make sure you have good travel insurance.

ekf
I would say it's travel insurance that you need not private health insurance.

Pumpkin
hmmm ... that's a bit confusing.thanks my friend. What is confusing? You are traveling, on a long holiday so travel insurance makes sense. To your earlier point, don't buy it until you have your visa.
