Visa granted, planning on a move to Melbourne in October

Hey there, new to posting on this site although have read other threads during my visa application process. Last week, my family was granted a permanent visa (subclass 189) after starting the process a year and a half ago. We went on my job as a social worker, but then I fell pregnant, so put things on hold until after the baby was born. So now my husband and two daughters (one is 2 and a half and the other 5 months) and myself plan to move to Melbourne in October. We hope to book flight in the next few days!!

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who can recommend nice areas for young families in Melbourne, and what the job situation is like out there for qualified social workers. My husband is working as a engineer in the UK, although is Swedish. We plan to rent at first, and do not plan on taking any of our existing furniture (it is not worth anything) but will post a few boxes of treasures possessions to friends who already live in Melbourne. Any comments or anyone in similar situations I would love to hear from you!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the visa. Try joining up to our Melbourne forum as well http://www.lifeinvictoria.com

I think the SE suburbs are wonderful for a family, areas like Mornington, Berwick, Mt Eliza etc also the Dandenomg Ranges are beautiful.

Thanks for that I am looking on the Life in Victoria page as we speak!!

It is a smaller forum than this but everyone is very friendly.
