I learnt where you can get the best meat pie in OZ!

[h=2]History[edit][/h]Lead smelting commenced in the area in 1898. A public school opened in 1897, but was closed six years later. Another school opened in 1953. The Newcastle Mines Rescue Station opened in 1927. The Waratah Golf Club was formed in 1901 and is the oldest golf club in Newcastle. The Pasminco Lead and Zinc smelter was confirmed to begin disassembly in 2005 for the cost of approx $6 mil. In 2009 it was nearing the end of demolition with clearing and replanting of land. It is expected the land will be used for industrial purposes as it is not suitable for residential development.

[h=2]Local interests[edit][/h]Argenton is a small suburb of Lake Macquarie commonly recognised for its BMX Club, Soccer Club and longstanding Bakery which under initial ownership claimed to have the best meat pie in Australia. With the opening of Glendale Supercentre within the boundaries of Argenton, the area has seen rapid growth in visitors travelling through the suburb. The demolition of the Pasminco Smelter saw 360 people losing their employment although it caused much pollution to the surrounding areas. Much controversy surrounded the Pasminco and many saw both positive and negative factors in its closing

We just moved to Cronulla last week and it's beautiful! So many things to do outdoors with little kids - and that's winter!!!! People are friendly and for the most part look happy and positive.

Wait till summer then, this last week has to be the coldest its been all year. If you like it now, you'll love it in summer. So much to do and such a great place to be around.

We live in Cronulla and love it. It is expensive but being so close to the ocean is priceless.

Stop being so POSITIVE about life in Australia, or one of the Australia haters will be along to tell you the error of your ways! If there is one thing they hate, it is positive stories about life in OZ. As I have said many times before, they are like smokers who cannot quit, so their mission in life is to get every other ex smoker to start smoking again.
