quicksilver27 Posted January 29, 2014 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Hi all, my wife and I are going through the visa process, my wife is a nurse and I am in the civil construction industry/ pipe laying, Was wondering if there is much of this kind of work going ? Petals Posted January 29, 2014 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Welcome to the forum. Queensland can be hit and miss for jobs, depends where you settle. Anywhere around Brisbane can be a bit dicey for construction type work and hit and miss. I would be looking at Seek and seeing where jobs were being advertised in Australia and also at construction to see where the work is. Nurses can have problems as well with jobs, depends what experience they have, what their speciality is, although in aged care they are short of nurses and always looking. There is a Nurses thread which will give your wife some insight in to working in Aus. Generally the larger cities have more jobs but we are in a bit of a downturn so it may take a few months to find work so need a contingency plan.
