joshbay84
Dear All, I have just started looking into 189 visa for skilled workers. I see that we need to submit EOI and on approval of which, skill select needs to be used for further process. My question is - are there any cap on 189 visa or is it just unlimited whereby I can submit EOI anytime ? I did a quick look up at the immigration website and could not find any. Thanks Joshua
Ozmaniac
The planning level for the 2013-2014 program year for 189 visas is 44,990. Planning levels for the 2014-2015 PY (starts 1 July) will be announced in the May Budget. Within the overall number, an Occupation Ceiling applies to each occupation. http://www.immi.gov.au/media/statistics/statistical-info/visa-grants/migrant.htm Planned program numbers http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ See Reports for Occupation Ceilings

Thus, 2613 indicating anything that starts with 2613? Joshua
Ozmaniac
Yes, that's right. The occupation ceiling applies to the group of occupations with codes beginning with 2613 rather than a single specific occupation. On the Report page, you should note the special arrangements relating to the 2613 and 5 other groups which come about due to high demand for visas nominating those occupations. In past years, there has been a marked imbalance towards some occupations and DIBP now take measures to avoid such imbalances.
Dannielle24
If allocated number is 5,400 and only 57 results giving to date, what's the hold up? Or what happens if the numbers aren't filled before the new years numbers are out?

Or what happens if the numbers aren't filled before the new years numbers are out? 57 is all that have met all of the requirements so far for the year. 5400 is the maximum, not the allocation. Thank you, for clearing that up for me, trying to understand it all as were waiting...
