Maruska
Hi, I`m looking for advice regarding a nursing job. We are planning to make the move probably in August next year. A position just came up that I think I might have a real chance of getting ( brand new unit opening, my specialty, several positions required). My dilemma is, if I apply now, isn`t it too early? My resume/CV would remain in the system for 1 year in case of future vacancies. What I don`t want to happen is apply, get the job and be forced to come to Australia earlier ( we already have travel plans in place for the summer). How far ahead is it reasonable to apply? Petals
I guess if there is a new unit opening there will be a lot of people applying for the positions. I know that my friend's son who is a specialist is making inroads now for his future job prospects and he will not be available till late next year. Hospital budgets are up and down and things can change from month to month, will really depend on where you are intending to go and whether you are going to work in private or public. Sometimes things that are going to happen don't happen, sometimes they are brought forward by demand. Presently there is a lot of pressure on health. Depends on when the next State election is all that stuff comes into play as to when they would want you if you were successful.
