trabonita
Hi, I need to buy my baby a new car seat (1-4 age range) but I have heard that Australia does not recognise UK car seats as meeting their safety standards. I don't want to waste money buying one now and not be able to bring it to Aus next year. Does anyone know if there are any UK brands recognised in Australia? Thanks
Guest
None that I am aware of - even if it is an identical seat the one marketed in the UK will not have the AS1754 approved label. Some of the big names we're familiar with in the UK such as Britax are market leaders in Australia too - it might be worth contacting them to see if there are any approved in both countries but I really doubt it - even though ISOFIX has now been introduced the Australian standard is different! AJ
Britax is under the name Safe and Sound here, same seats but you still need to buy the Australian one.
Guest
No, UK car seats are not legal in Aus. Check the Aus CREP site to see which car seats rate highly in testing etc in Aus.
