MrsGtobe
Hi, We are at the early stages of planning our move to Oz. I was wondering if anyone knew how long before my dog would need to have all the jags as would prefer the minimum quarantine period....which I believe is 30 days thanks in advance
Guest
Usually at least 5 months before you depart. No more than 12. http://www.daff.gov.au/biosecurity/cat-dogs/cat4?name=the%20United%20Kingdom

Jude
You have to get the rabies jab done and then a blood test to check the antibody levels a month later - they are allowed out of quarante 5 months after the successful blood test......So its an idea to do it sooner rather than later in case you're one of the unlucky ones that needs to repeat the vaccine. fifi69
We brought over two dogs. Basically it's never to early to start at least looking into the procedures, choosing a vet who has experience and knowledge of what's required, getting quotes from pet shipment companies. Quarantine does get booked up fairly quickly. Your local family vet may not be the best person to use. I had a battle on my hands persuading our vet not to use the lepto vaccine when giving our boys their yearly boosters. That vaccine can upset the results of the rabies blood test. good luck
