Callie mum
Hi, I was wondering which areas south of the river were best for living ie nice areas, access to shops, schools etc, will hopefully be working in Symonston or Hume so travelling distance from there. Thanks Callie
Guest Bazinga
Look at your budget, look at allhomes.com.au then come back with some shortlisted areas and people can give opinions
Ben1979
Hi Callie, Jerrabomberra is probably the nicest & closest suburb for you to look at. I think the price reflects the area though so its not the cheapest, but I would certainly recommend it. I know a few people through work who live there & they all seem to like it. This is the best site to find properties in the ACT http://www.allhomes.com.au/ah/nsw/rent-residential/jerrabomberra/121450710 Good luck, Ben. sunniecat
Anywhere southside works, though easiest access would probably be from Narrabundah (be picky, it's either dodgy or nice afaict), Jerra as Ben suggested, or even look at the eastern suburbs of Tuggeranong or Woden. I drive out to Fyshwick every day from Wanniassa and it takes 20 minutes, no traffic problems ever. Because Canberra doesn't have traffic problems you can usually widen your search to a reasonable area without lengthening your commute. You could also consider Queanbeyan? Guest Bazinga
Canberra does have traffic problems! Trust me living north and driving south to Woden every day is a pain in the backside and the parkway is terrible. Jerra and Queanbeyan are in NSW so just be aware of that. Callie mum
Thanks everyone, yes must be careful as on a 190 visa to ACT, so must stay within the boundary. Will have a look at house prices as Bazinga suggested and ask about the areas that are affordable. Cheers x
