Coming to WA, just not sure where???

Hi All.

We are looking to make the move to WA June/July and will probably look at moving to somewhere in the Perth Metro Area, but it is a big place and we are really unsure where to look at starting out?

Kids are the main concern though. My daughter will be 13 and my son will be 21 by then. My daughter will be looking for a school and my son will be looking to finish of Uni in Oz. I know there is a course he can drop on at the Edith Cowan Uni, so somewhere commutable to the main campus and in a decent school catchment area for my daughter. We had initially looked at maybe giving it a go around Edgewater/Heathridge.

I will be looking for a job in the HVAC field and my wife may look for work at a hairdresser or barber shop, we are considering setting her up with a hairdressers / nails/ beauty therapy salon. Again not sure how many there are in the areas we have started to look at.

Would be great to get some advice from those in the know.

Cheers

Hi Kev,

Sounds like you need to be close to Joondalup for the university campus so Edgewater / Heathridge are fine if you want slightly older well established suburbs. If you want something newer then look to the North, Northwest & Northeast of Joondalup, all of the surrounding suburbs will have public transport links to Joondalup.

I'm in Carramar which is nice but lacking a pub, Tapping, Hocking & Ashby are are my neighbouring suburbs and all seem good. Some Parts of Banksia Grove get a bad name so maybe avoid there.

I have friends in Connolly, Currambine & Kinross and all are happy with their areas.

If you want to spend a bit more money and be closer to the ocean then Ocean Reef, Iluka & Burns Beach are all very nice with some parts of Burns Beach still under construction.

Can't help with schools as my kids are grown up but I've heard that Ocean Reef is a good catchment area to be in for schooling?

My missus is a mobile Hairdresser and has worked in salons too, there are loads of salons around and most turn over staff pretty quickly so there are always "wanted" ads for salon work.

Hope that helps,

Jeff.
