Claretjon
We're having our worldly goods shipped in a few weeks and have just received the booking confirmation etc. One question though, we've been told not to ship jewellery, which I can understand for expensive items but does anybody know if this also applies for costume jewellery? Guest Guest62720
I am a Director of Insure-Your-Move.com From an insurance perspective most policies will cover the shipment of jewellery within a consignment but will often add restrictions such as :- limiting the collective value being shipped to £ 3,500 or thereabouts requesting the goods are handed over to the foreman of the packing crew to pack requesting the goods are placed into a carton/box and marked as miscellaneous on the movers' inventory requesting the goods are packed in the middle or front of the container excluding loss arising from 'mysterious disappearance' Please accept the consignment could be inspected at Customs and/or by the Delivering Agent in Australia so it is important to try and limit the opportunity for when the goods could go missing. We would suggest you best check with your Insurers to see what they may or may not allow. Hope this helps.
