Pavlova
We paid what we thought the final price was and then we were charged an extra £270 for 'marine insurance' which is separate from the insurance you pay on the value of the goods. We used Anglo to air freight 2 extra bags and an extra £150 was added onto the quote due to a bag being oversized even though we had given the exact measurements and weights over the phone. We have had other problems such as the movers arriving several hours early to pack things up and our things are scheduled to arrive 2 weeks later than the original 12 week quote. It's also advisable to keep copies of all the documents as we had to resend them several times. Their emailed responses to our questions have also been quite unprofessional with poor spelling, grammar and even a bizarre personal email obviously meant for some family member of an Anglo employee. The only problem packing your own cube is having the time and energy to do it. We were working full time shift work right up to our move day, I was also working at the opposite end of the country as well so we had no option but to have some help. Im not sure if all the companies are like this, some of the stories on these threads from other companies sound familiar though. dont despair though, OZ is awesome and the money is great, we have furnished our new house with all sorts of fancy stuff within 2 months and had lots of trips/fun. Regarding the hidden charges, we would be very interested to learn what the additional £ 270 was in respect of ? If it was insurance then you should have been given a specific documentation ie. a Policy detailing the coverage and a 'statement of price' clearly determining what the additional premium was in relation to. If not, then it may have simply been an unnecessary charge imposed by A/P as marine insurance simply doesn't work that way, unless you made a material change to the initial coverage required. Pavlova
The quoted price went up as more space was required in the container even though we had shown AP exactly what we were taking when they came to give us the quote. We paid AP the 'final price' and then we were informed some weeks later that they apologised for not including the insurance in the price. Slightly dodgy as our stuff was at sea by then, did that mean it was uninsured during that time? Apologies for confusion in earlier message, reading back over all the things from AP it does seem the final payment was for total insurance. I suppose with regards to AP, the problems we encountered could likely happen with any shipping company but we have been let down by very confusing communication from the individuals dealing with our air and sea freight.
