The proposed Batten Rd workers village camp, in Marrara, has been on the cards since 2009 after the original tender fell over. The Government now says it is two weeks away from clinching a deal with a preferred tenderer. But it also revealed, during Estimates hearings yesterday, it discovered the site was contaminated with asbestos.
