teepee
I completed my carpentry practical in London 3 months ago , you had to work out all the component if the roof using the steel square , common , hips , jacks & creepers . You have to know the theory behind it , roof setting out . All carpenters are required to have this knowlage as its a baseic carpentry skill from your apprenship. I can't say they would be two impressed if the ask you how would you calculate the common and hip rafter , and you wiped out your I phone and said the app does it . It would be a straight fail as you would show no experance or knowlage of roofing . After all it's a skills test not a app test ?

Guest
Sorry I beg to differ, I told the examiner I'm better at letting my hands do the talking, he said as long as I come up with the goods it was ok, guess what, I passed.
