Initial health cover for 461 temp resident visa?? sorry if I can't see the wood for the trees!!

Hi, my husband is a kiwi and we are planning on moving to brisbane in october. I am getting very confused about my 461 visa form (nothing new there!). Can anyone confirm if I need to take out additional health cover for my entire time that I am in Oz or whether I should be able to register with medicare on arrival?

 

I thought I had it clear on this page http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/461/eligibility.htm because it said we have a reciprocal agreement, but I am confused because I am not not sure if I will be classed as a UK resident if we are in Oz on a temporary residence visa. Someone somewhere said the reciprocal only applied to uk residents (something about being registered with a uk gp, and having a uk residence??) :twitcy:

Have a look at the medicare site, lot of information on it which may help you. Obviously when you arrive and go to medicare you will find out for sure whether you have to take out your own insurance.
