Guest Fetler
Hi, I am coming over to Oz on the one year working travel visa in September. I have asthma so need prescriptions. I shouldn't need hospital admission at all (fingers crossed). I have looked at health insurance but it's so expensive! Does anyone have any information on getting prescriptions over there - are they expensive? Can I just sign up at a GP to get them regularly without having insurance? Or will that be more expensive than just biting the bullet? Any help at all would be great, thanks.
Guest Guest31881
I believe you are covered with the reciprocal agreement for health care, hopefully someone who knows more about it will be able to help. Prescriptions are around $35 an item, However salbutamol (Ventolin) inhalers are available from chemists over the counter (Not on prescription) priced around $5 to $
Guest Fetler
Thanks for that. I usually have good asthma when out of England so I hope it will be minimal. Great to know I can get inhalers over the counter - thanks!
