Andy Thank you. I have (since my comment) got 2 other sources telling me the same. So looks like the 5 year rule doesn’t apply to me if I withdraw using an account based pension. This is good. My plan will be to use this fund first to support my retirement, and leave other funds for later as this is a relatively high cost fund. Thanks for your advice. Cheers Alec

Andy I have a key question that nobody wants to answer… I am just going into AESF as a QROPS transfer. I am over 60 and retired from work: can I transfer all the funds in AESF to an account based pension straight away, and then take it out as a lump sum without incurring a UK tax liability? Cheers Alec
