  1. Hi everyone! I'm currently looking at applying for the Skilled Independent Migration Visa 189 (Hong Kong stream). However, it says that if I've had a previous visa cancelled, it might affect my eligibility. I was granted a 457 (employer sponsored) visa in 2010. In 2011 I left my job voluntarily and, obviously, my 457 got cancelled. I never overstayed my visa and I ended up leaving Australia for a few years. I then re-entered the country on a student visa, and after that I got my post-graduate 485 visa, which is the visa I'm on right now. My question is, will my previous 457 visa cancellation affect my eligibility for the 189 visa? It seems a bit unfair if it does, as my previous visa didn't get cancelled because I did something illegal or immoral. It was simply because I'd decided to leave my job at the time. Thank you very much for your help.
