Hello readers,
During COVID and the various lockdowns I have been carefully following the negotiations and resulting UK-Aus Free Trade Agreement, with a hope the outcome would enable significantly more mobility opportunities for my partner and I to fulfil our dream of moving to Sydney.
I am pleased to say the new mobility arrangements that have been announced, would be fantastic and allow my partner and I to live in Australia whilst working similar jobs as we do in the UK - Albeit for a maximum of 3 years.
Unfortunately the new arrangement have a 5 year implementation phase and we do not want to wait this long, which has made us re-consider our options.
I am now looking at a 189 or 190 visa and would like some guidance, since I know from reading here that these are very competitive. We would also qualify for a 417, but the restrictions on working rights means we’d be looking to get sponsored whilst initially living in Aus on the 417.
Both my partner and I have 90 or 95 points each (95 if we apply after September-22).
My partner could qualify as a sales and marketing manager (Or marketing specialist), whereas I am not 100% on what my own occupation would be class as. As far as I can tell, a Finance Manager, Technical Sales or Sales and Marketing may be applicable.
Are you able to share your thoughts on the competitiveness of these occupations plus their associated timelines for a 189 / 190 Visa?
Do you also have any experience of people going over on the easy access 417 WHV and then subsequently finding a company who will sponsor them once they arrive?
I also operate a private limited company on the UK. What are your thoughts on my company applying for the business sponsorship scheme and then sponsoring me to open an Australian office etc? I am 1 of 2 employees at the Limited company and the sole shareholder/director. The business revenue is approx £50k per year. Have you heard of any success stores? Or would the PLC be too small?
many thanks
Jordan
