    Hey Congratulations

did you apply for prioritisation or something ? I’m from the same council applied on November 2020 . My test day was on May 28th 2021 and still waiting for approval …

thanks... nope, did nothing of that sort.. just gave my test and interview and within 30 mins we got our approval...

the ceremony took 5 months to happen though and we were annoyed a bit.. but all well that ends well...

don't worry - hang in there - I am sure its just around the corner 🙂

    Hi,

I applied for my passport two days after the ceremony (morning of 28th Jan) and got it (31th Jan). I did not wait for my immi account to show finalised. Also, when I put my citizenship certificate number in the passport application, it did not recognise it. But, I could still process my application.

    Thanks for getting back..

Did you apply on the 28th of this year? Also, did you apply as a priority?

    thanks

All the citizenship applications will be processed by Federal Government and nothing to do by Victorian government. The entire credit delay of processing victorian applications goes to federal government.

Only the approval process sits with federal ...

invitation to test and interview and ceremony resides with the individual state.. which is why WA SA TAS have relatively much quicker turn around time

  4. I personally think

Not really, Vic got smashed all through 2020 and most of 2021, NSW was largely unaffected until late 2021. Remember Melbourne was the most locked down city in the world throughout the whole pandemic, I’m not surprised we’re miles behind in Vic tbh.

I personally think that COVID is a really weak excuse for this...

You apply online.. your documents are submitted online, the case officers work online...your approval is done online..even your ceremony is done online... Last I checked, COVID cannot transmit through the internet...

The only thing you need to be present for is the interview and the test which if processed for 100 people a day ( not a big deal if you have 5 case officers assigned to this)... And you work for 250 days a year.. that's 25000 people every year so over 2 years would be 50k people.. the number of applicants we see online of 145k would most probably include children as well.. who don't need an interview... Let's say 40k of those are children..that means 100k applications across AU.. and maybe around 30k of whom are in VIC..

Anyways, this is just my theory and I am sure there are many factors involved.. however the govt should explain what exactly is taking so long... People have left behind a lot to reach here and deserve the respect to know why do they have to wait for so long.

That may depend, have you received any email from the department saying you have now been approved? This email is usually signed by the current immi minister. Once this email has been sent it should show approved, in some cases it may take a few days to show though..

We never got an email saying approved.. only on our immi account did the status changed to approved and then a week later we got the approval letter by post

Currently, DOHA is processing Nov 2020 applications for Melbourne as per other expat sites. Hopefully, you will get test invitation by end of March 2022.

Could you please share links to other expat sites discussing citizenship? I hardly get any SA related news here 😞

    Hi

We are in Onkaparinga Council. We were approved in October but have not heard anything regarding a ceremony date yet. We were hoping for Jan 26 but I don’t think that will happen now.

our neighbours got their approval through around 3 weeks before us and they have their ceremony locked in for the 26th but not sure if that will now change with the current Covid situation

A friend of mine who is scheduled for the ceremony tomorrow was told that it is now going to be a virtual one... don't know if that is good news or bad news for us...

If we move from Melbourne to another state like NT or SA will the process be faster or they will assess the application as same as Victoria?

NT and SA are much faster than VIC and NSW

But, you have to apply while you are in those two states.. meaning, the address you put in has to be an SA or NT one and the council you choose also has to be an SA or NT one so that it gets processed in their queue... If you applied while in VIC using a vic address and then move to SA or NT, you will have to edit the application ..

Has anyone been given an invite for the oath in December? Would be great people from SA can use this thread as our processing times differ vastly to other states...

    Hi

Can anyone help me regarding my question?

My wife failed the Australian citizenship test for the third time, because of her english.

Should we apply for a new application? or we have to apply for the AAT.

    Or have any other options.

    Thank you in advance

How many answers were given wrong? If it were just a couple, I have heard cases where they consider...

    1. Does your wife's application show as "rejected" on the immi account?

    2. Just call the immi office and ask them for options...

Are you serious? That’s way within processing times. People in Melbourne are waiting for a sign since mid-2020

You need to go a bit easy, mate...

Every state is different and you having longer processing times does mean others have no right to complain...

I applied in September this year and gave my test and received approval in October.. still haven't received the ceremony date and that makes me feel as if it's getting delayed for no reason... And now with Omicorn here, one can expect further delays

Sat my test this morning and passed. (100%) super easy and the lady was so friendly and made me feel less stressed.

My immi account changed to approved almost instantly. Cant believe I've only got one more step to go!

So, now just the wait for a ceremony.

    which state?

My wife and I got invite same day. It was as fast as yours. Check your immi ac maybe you have also been invited 😊

    I checked - no invite :(
I hope it comes through soon though... wonder if it was the form 1023 which I added due to a minor error I made in the application which is adding the time...
    *fingers crossed*
Did you get your ceremony date yet?

  16. Hi guys,
We (me and my spouse) applied on the 22nd of September.. The wife got her appointment letter today (pretty quick!) but I did not get mine.. Is this normal? If so, usually how many days apart to do people who applied together get their invites?

    Regards

Hi all, I'm new here and would like to share my timeline:

    Application: 11/08/2021 Adelaide

Invitation for test: 16 Sept 2021

    Test done: 24 Sept 2021

    Approved immediately.

    Awaiting Ceremony Invite

    Awesome!

That was pretty quick - we applied on the 22nd of September so hopeful to be invited for the test soon!

Your approval was pretty quick as well - may I ask which nationality do you hold?

There is NO need to re-apply. Just upload the form 1023-Notification of incorrect answers form and that is it (just download it from searching it in Google: form 1023). It happened to us as well with other questions and did this. That is the purpose of this form.

    Cheers.

thank you for your reply - that form says it is specifically for visa applications and passenger card - not for citizenship.. did you use this for to correct errors in your citizenship application?

    regards

  19. Hi guys,

in the question related to where we have lived in the past 5 years.. I was in UAE from Sept 2016-Arpil 2018 in UAE but by mistake I wrote April 2021 instead of April 2018 - obviously I was not in UAE then, I was in Australia...

Is this a major error? Do I need to cancel and redo my application for this? Can I just add a document explaining this and upload it?

    please help
